New large-bore piston plant in China
The sales office and production plant, near Shanghai, will supply pistons to the marine and other markets in China, Japan, and Korea. The company says tha the plant has been opened in response to these markets’ dynamic regional growth, as marked by the fact that some 80% of ocean-going newbuild vessels are being built in the region.
The new facility joins the group’s existing large-bore piston plants in Neckarsulm, Germany, and Marinette, USA, and will focus on pistons of 160mm to 350mm diameter for medium-speed diesel and gas engines. Liner manufacturer M. Jürgensen will have a representative office in the new plant to complete the offering.
The new Chinese company has a production space of 8,100m² and initially a workforce of 20, which is expected to rise to around 100.
