Cummins has launched the QSM11-CP 200kW-300kW marine genset

The QSM11-CP features a QSM11-DM marine auxiliary engine matched to a Cummins Generator Technologies marine-grade HCM434F1 alternator. The company says that all major components of C Power generator sets are designed and manufactured by Cummins companies to ensure compatibility and efficiency. Customer-selectable options include the Cummins C Command HD panels, enabling the unit to be tailored to individual vessel application. Certified to US EPA Tier 2 and IMO Tier II emissions standards, the QSM11-CP is SOLAS compliant and approved by major classification societies, including ABS, BV, DNV and Lloyd’s Register.

The QSM11-CP is said to be designed specifically for maritime applications, and Cummins says that the global nature of ship operations mean it is essential that onboard machinery is supported anywhere in the world the vessel travels. “Since their introduction in 2001, Cummins C Power products have set the standard for electric power generation in the marine industry,” says Jenny Bush, general manager – commercial marine. “The opening of the Commercial Marine Center of Excellence enables us to expand this industry-leading product line beyond the current offering by consolidating design, testing, integration and support resources that exist across the Cummins factory and distribution channel.”

The Cummins Commercial Marine and Offshore Oil & Gas Center of Excellence has recently been opened in Singapore, following the successful launch of the Oil and Gas Center of Excellence in Houston, Texas. The Singapore facility, where the new QSM11-CP is integrated and assembled, will deliver a range of power packages, including the expanded line of C Power marine generator sets, which will be fully tested to Cummins standards. The company says that its genset range benefits from a comprehensive factory warranty, recognised at and backed-up by a service and distribution network of over 1,200 outlets.

“The launch of the QSM11-CP allows us to fill a gap in the 200 to 300 kWe range while meeting the latest emissions requirements for marine equipment,” says Donald Ho, director – commercial marine center of excellence. “Components like filters and dipsticks can be mounted on either port or starboard side, giving the genset flexibility in installation and maintenance onboard. But what’s most impressive is Cummins’ ability to offer a genset fully integrated by the factory that carries with it the benefit of Cummins service and warranty support.”
