New MPV launched in Germany
The vessel is the second unit in a series of three multi-purpose cargo ships to be delivered to Wagenborg shipping in Delfzijl.
These ships are the largest ever built at Ferus Smit shipyards and will also be the largest vessels in the Wagenborg fleet.
All three vessels measure 169.75m in length and 20.40m in breadth. They have a deadweight tonnage of 23.300 and a hold volume of 945.000m3.
They are equipped with a main engine delivering 4500kW to a ducted propeller. As an improvement on the first ship in the series, Reggeborg is equipped with a higher deckhouse to create better vision lines when shipping high project deck cargoes.
The characteristic and innovative ‘bulbless’ bow shape of the vessel means a number of green advantages, one being more fuel efficiency.
Its longer and sharper waterlines creates less resistance, irrespective of loading draft. At the same time this shape creates more deadweight and cargo volume.
Delivery of the vessel is planned for February 2014.
