NGC receives approval for FT radars
Northrop Grumman Corporation has received type approval from the U.K. certification body QinetiQ for its new-generation marine radar systems.
The QinetiQ type approval certifies that the new Sperry Marine VisionMaster FT radars conform to the technical specifications and performance standards of the United States Coastguard as well as the International Electrotechnical Commission and International Maritime Organization. The products are also authorized to be marked with the European Union Wheelmark insignia, signifying compliance with European Council directives.
The type approval applies to the Sperry Marine VisionMaster FT radars and chart radar systems, with 250 mm and 340 mm displays, in both standard and high-speed craft versions.
Introduced earlier this year, the VisionMaster FT series radars incorporate Sperry Marine?s proprietary automatic clutter suppression technology, which facilitates detecting and identifying small, weak targets. Available in a wide range of interswitchable X- and S-band automatic radar plotting aid (ARPA) configurations, the VisionMaster FT systems use Sperry Marine?s proven BridgeMaster E transceiver and antenna options permitting easy and inexpensive retrofit for existing installations
