Nigerian yards complete FPSO topside

US oil major Chevon confirms that two Nigerian shipyards have completed key components of the of $1 billion FPSO vessel for the Agbami deep offshore oil field, which is on track to come into production in 2008.

The fabrication of FPSO topsides modules which commenced in February 2006 at the Nigerdock yard in Lagos was completed on schedule, while the port laydown module and the flare bloom were constructed at the Daewoo Nigeria yard in Warri, Delta State.

Chevron said that all the components have since been shipped out of both yards en route to South Korea where they will be integrated with the FPSO topsides. The FPSO will handle production of 250,000 b/d of oil from the Agbami field. Chevron is the operator of the field with partners Petrobras of Brazil, Norwegian Statoil, Nigerian indigenous firm Famfa Oil Limited and state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Corp.
