NITC building six tankers
National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) has ordered six oil tankers for carrying oil from Caspian Sea littoral states to the northern port of Neka, announced head of the company. Three of the 63,000 dwt tankers are under construction at Sadra Shipyard in the port of Neka while the other three newbuildings are being constructed in Astrakhan in Russia. The first tanker is scheduled to become operational by 2008.
Iran is also willing to import 370,000 barrels per day of crude oil from Caspian littoral states as feedstock for refineries in Tehran and Tabriz.
