Nord orders five 8,200TEU box ships

Nord Capital in Germany is believed to have placed an order for five 8,200TEU box ships with Hyundai Samho Shipyard in Korea. The total order is valued at W 431.9 billion ($367m) and deliveries are scheduled to start in 2006. This is the second mega boxship newbuilding contract for this shipbuilder following the recent order for four 8,200TEU container ships from CMA CGM. Market sources told MotorShip that the actual ship owner behind the new order is Nord Capital in Germany.
