Nordic Ferry to deploy large HS ferry
Nordic Ferry Services will deploy one of the world?s largest high-speed ferry on its service between Ystad in Sweden and Ronne on the island of Bornholm when the new invitation to tender becomes effective in two years? time.
The new tender will be effective on September 1, 2011 and runs till September 1, 2017. The new ferry will measure 112 metres in length and will be able to make the trip in 80 minutes. It is most likely that Australian shipbuilder Austal or Incat will build the new vessel.
Currently the 86-metre high speed ropax catamaran Villum Clausen, constructed by Austal Ships and delivered to Borholmstrafikken in April 2000, operates on this route.
