“Norway will increase cooperation with Viet Nam in shipbuilding”, said Marianne Lie, Director General of the Norwegian Ship-owners Association, who is among 130 business executives accompanying the Norwegian Royalty on a five-day visit to Viet Nam.

Regarding Vietnamese – Norwegian business cooperation, this would develop and increase in the next few years, and Vietnam currently has orders for nearly 10 vessels from a Norwegian ship-owning company.

“I think that the cooperation between Viet Nam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (Vinashin) and Norway is now very good. We want Vinashin to provide labour, energy, and if possible, main engines and steel. We will provide ship designs, all kinds of supervision, and if necessary, engines or steel as well,” Lie said, adding that they would also discuss training programmes for Vietnamese seafarers.
