NT 4.0 charting software launched

International Communications And Navigation Limited (ICAN) has updated its electronic charting systems Aldebaran ll and Regulus ll for computers running Windows NT 4.

New features include the ability to read and display multiple charts in several formats, light level control, a guard zone for collision avoidance, support for additional marine sensors, flexible data logging and enhanced data import/export. The systems are based on the IEC 61174 operational and performance standards for ECDIS.

Regulus is designed for navigation using a single chart format, while Aldebaran is ICAN`s multi-fueled ECS that simultaneously supports multiple chart data formats, says the company.

ICAN has also announced a radar overlay module as an add-on that for both Regulus and Aldebaran designed for use for search and rescue, iceberg detection, obstacle avoidance, and coastal surveillance.
