Nuclear icebreaker to be launched this year

Russian defence minister Sergei Ivanov has announced that construction of the nuclear-powered icebreaker ?50 Let Pobedy? will be completed this year. “I hope that the nuclear icebreaker ?50 Let Pobedy? will be launched this year. Its construction has lasted for ten years already,” he announced in Moscow on Friday.

Ivanov added that completion of the construction of the ship requires several hundred million rubles. He also said that two diesel-powered icebreakers are to be launched this year for operation in the Gulf of Finland.
