Ocean Mainport orders multipurpose vessel
Ocean Mainport Offshore Limited (OSL) in Ireland has placed an order for a multipurpose vessel. OSL said the vessel, to be named Ocean Europe, is being built at the Solstrand shipyard in Tomrefjord Norway at a cost of $18 million. When delivered in May 2007, the newbuilding will be operated by Shell under a long-term contract.
The vessel will be 64m in length, have a 100 tonne bollard pull and carry a crew of 18. It will work as a combined support/rescue/oil recovery vessel and will also be equipped for tanker assistance.
