Odense delivers first of six ro-ros

Odense Steel Shipyard in Denmark has delivered the first of six ro-ros for the British investment company Epic Shipping of London. The ship, hull no 217, sails under the name of the ‘Maas Viking’ for a long-term time charter to the A P M?ller-M?rsk-owned Norfolk Line.

The ‘Mass Viking’ now sails between Rotterdam and the terminal at North Killingholme on the Humber River estuary. The ro-ro vessel is built under license from Flensburger Schiffbau and is of the same type as the DFDS “Flowerclass” units, with 3,800 lane metres on four decks. The newbuilding is 199m in length and 26.5m in beam. It is powered by a MaK engine type 9M43 developing 7,150 kW for a service speed of 21.5 knots.

The ‘Maas Viking’ will be followed by the ‘Humber Viking’ in August.
