Odfjell orders gas tankers from Sinopacific

Deliveries of the ships, of 17,000m³ capacity, are scheduled between October 2015 and May 2016, and the value of the order is put at about US$180 million. Odfjell says it has secured options for up to four additional gas carriers.

The company currently operates two 9,000m³ LPG/ethylene carriers, and regards this newbuilding order as an important step in its long-term growth strategy for the gas market.

According to Odfjell, Sinopacific, having delivered several gas carriers in recent years, is regarded to have one of the very few construction facilities in China able to meet Odfjell’s quality standards for such ships.
