Onboard emission monitoring system linked to GPS

This, says the company, aids compliance with the applicable emissions regulations. The system, known as Turbulo BlueMon, permits seamless auditing and verification of emissions. It can record all ship emissions that are listed with limited values in the respective Annexes to MARPOL 73/78. Additionally, it can provide emissions data required under other regulations, such as the US Vessel General Permit, and using the GPS link can clearly record where and when the emissions occurred.

The data is stored for at least 24 months, allowing retrospective verification of emissions compliance.

The GPS link allows the system to deliver a warning to the bridge that the ship is heading towards a sea area where specific emission regulations apply, so emission values can be checked and adjustments made if necessary. As well as emissions to air, Turbulo BlueMon can control other discharges, such as bilge water.

The system’smodular design allows custom configuration. As standard, it comprises a central data logger connected to a PC. Different software packages are provided for each of the Annexes to the MARPOL regulations. If required, SKF Blohm + Voss Industries will supply the associated technical components. All data can be displayed on the system monitor, either as an overview of emission values or as a geographical display.
