OPK and MCN to cooperate

Modern Commercial Navy (MCN) PLC and United Industrial Corporation JSC (OPK) have signed a cooperation agreement for the potential development and construction of a multifunctional supply icebreaker and a 75, 000 m³ LNG carrier.

MCN PLC is the largest Russian shipping company with longstanding experience of collaboration with shipbuilders and is the main customer for Russian built commercial ships. It is interested in placing orders for the construction of high-tech vessels at OPK?s shipyards.

This bilateral agreement will contribute to the realization of the Federal Target Program 2008-2015 “Development of Russian Shipbuilding industry”. This program targets the renewal of Russia’s commercial fleet and the offshore development of the Arctic continental shelf.
