Ostsee signs up CS1700 quartet

Aker Yards has been awarded contracts to build four container vessels for König & Cie. GmbH und Co. KG in Hamburg. The vessels are of the newly developed type Aker CS 1700 with a capacity of 1,706TEU, a deadweight of 24,200 tonnes and a service speed of 20 knots. The total contract value is approximately EUR 120 million and deliveries are scheduled for 2nd and 4th quarter 2007 and 1sr quarter 2008.

Earlier this year, König & Cie. ordered four 2,700TEU container vessels from Aker Ostsee for delivery in 2007. So far this year, Aker Ostsee shipyards have achieved an order intake of 23 vessels with a total contract value of approximately EUR 790 million. The two yards now have a record order book of 41 vessels.
