OSV oil analysis agreement signed

The agreement covers four regional offshore fleets managed by DOF – Norway, UK, Brazil and Asia – and includes platform supply vessels (PSV), anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTS) and construction support vessels/subsea vessels (CSV). Under the agreement DOF will send samples to either the Spectro laboratory in the UK or the Jet-Care laboratory in the US.

The Spectro oil analysis service provides preventative monitoring and will enable DOF to keep track of the health of its engines, propulsion units, hydraulic equipment systems as well as oil performance and condition. The data generated can be used to anticipate equipment faults through trending techniques, to optimise operations and to schedule maintenance. Spectro’s in-house reporting software will enable direct comparisons between similar machinery types across the fleet as well as providing independent comparison of oil types. This, says Spectro, will allow DOF to make informed decisions on the best performing lubricant across various applications.
