Patent granted for seal design

According to MSS director Ernie Terry, a system as covered in part of the patent has been on test with one OEM, and it seems to be successful in preventing any of the under piston detritus from passing into the system oil and causing contamination of the SAE30 oil. It is also preventing system oil from passing up into the under piston area.

Terry told The Motorship: “the development has taken a long time but I hope it will be worth the energy and finance over the last five years.” The patent grant comes almost exactly a year after the system was detailed in The Motorship July/August 2010 issue.

He continued: “The plan is to now get systems onboard to run under supervision of an engineer for several weeks when he or she will take readings and compare against OEM or competitive systems specifically in maintaining cleaner oil checked by oil company finite analysis.”
