Pertamina orders two tankers
Indonesian state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina said Tuesday it has signed a contract to buy two oil tankers together worth $29.16 million from state-run shipbuilder PT DOC & Perkapalan Surabaya. Construction of the first tanker will be completed in March 2011 and the second vessel will be delivered in September of the same year.
Although Pertamina has 130 tankers, 80 % of them are chartered. The company?s president, Ari Sumarno, said that his company is also planning to order five larger tankers from China’s Zhejiang Shipbuilding Co Ltd in the near future.
