Philippine yard deliver first newbuild

Philippine shipbuilder Colorado Shipyard Corp., which invested P1.04 billion for its facility in Cebu, has sold its first catamaran, a 33-meter aluminium vessel, to Demining International. This newbuilding has a service speed of 30 knots with a capacity of 30 tonnes of cargo and 60 persons. Its price was not disclosed.

“The Australian firm expressed satisfaction with the workmanship of the wholly owned Filipino company and plans to order additional units for its domestic and South Asian operations,” the company said in a statement. The vessel was built at Colorado?s shipbuilding and ship-repair facility in Consolacion, Cebu, which started operations in January.

Colorado?s shipbuilding facility has the capability to fabricate landing craft, roll-on, roll-off vessels, and tankers with fire-fighting features. It can build five vessels annually. Colorado also has Harwood Sleepways Private Ltd. and Sheerforce Maritime Service as partners for its design operations, and has teamed up with Sanko Marine Pty. Ltd. of Singapore for its marketing.
