Podded drives for Swedish tanker

Chinese yard Shanghai Edward Shipbuilding Co has signed a contract to build a 16,800 dwt chemical tanker for Swedish owner Rederi Donsoetank AB. The yard, which is working with a full orderbook to the end of 2000, says that the 20,200m3 vessel will be equipped with the Siemens/Schottel podded diesel electric drive system as main propulsion.

A delivery date of August 2000 has been scheduled for the newbuilding.
