Record pilot vessel contract for Dutch supplier

The vessels will be constructed by Barkmeijer Shipyards at Stroobos in the Netherlands. The PSVs are designed to provide offshore accommodation for the crew of the pilot boats. They are over 80m long, and will have accommodation for up to 18 pilots and 17 crew. Construction will take place over the next four years, with work starting in February on the first, to be named Polaris.

The contract to design, engineer and install the systems on board the three PSVs is valued at €10 million. The company will use its facilities in Drachten to undertake all of the engineering; supply the entire electrical system, automation, power distribution, switchbox cabinets and consoles; and will be fully responsible for installation and commissioning on-site at Stroobos.
