RINA and RS strengthen co-operation
The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) and Italian classification society RINA have signed a new agreement on co-operation in performing surveys of ships and floating structures under construction and in service, as well as certification of materials and products.
The agreement has significantly broadened the scope of existing co-operation, which began in June 1979. RINA and RS will now co-operate in the surveying of both seagoing ships and floating structures as well as offering dual classification, at the request of shipowners, and also certification of materials and products outside the marine field.
Under this agreement, each of the two societies can act on behalf of the other, or a vessel or floating structure can be classed with both societies.
