Roll over
Torm Alexandra, which rolled on the quay while discharging containers at Monrovia, is currently being salvaged by a team from Smit Tak and Wijsmuller. The 4,160 dwt ship developed a severe list to port during discharge. The first stage of the operation involved pollution prevention through containment of a small fuel oil spill and removal of the remaining supply. The salvors then partly removed the ship?s deck cargo, using a barge with crawler crane. Internal flooding was removed and the ship restored to a safe, upright condition before removal of remaining cargo and refloating.
