Rolls-Royce engines and anchor handling for Bourbon newbuild

The deck machinery will comprise anchor handling winches, secondary winches, auxiliary winches, anchor handling cranes and a wide range of safer deck operation equipment. The engine delivery consists of two B32:40V12PCD main engines and three C25:33L9ACD main generator engines. The scope of supply includes all mechanical, hydraulic and electric components needed for the deck equipment.

Rolls-Royce says that in addition to the customary AHTS role in handling anchors for oil rigs, performing rig moves and supplying offshore rigs, this vessel will have capability to serve in emergency rescue and recovery operations. The deck machinery package has been developed in close cooperation with the yard and owner, providing a ‘one-stop-shop’ solution.

The ship will be 93.6m length oa, 24m beam and have about 270t bollard pull. It is arranged for ROV operation, and will be operated by Bourbon Offshore Norway. The hull will be built at Vard Tulcea in Romania and completed at Vard Brattvaag in Norway. Delivery is scheduled for early 2016.
