Rolls-Royce solutions for Fincantieri newbuilds

The company will supply a Promas system (comprising propeller, hubcap, rudder bulb and rudder) as well as deck machinery and steering gear to two vessels being built for Viking Ocean Cruises. Steering gear and deck machinery will be delivered for a further vessel under construction for Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Steering gear is also being provided for two vessels being built for Princess Cruises.

The Promas system integrates propeller and rudder into a hydrodynamically optimised single unit, and is said to increase propulsive efficiency by 3-8% for single-screw vessels and 2-6% for twin-screw vessels. The system also offers manoeuvrability benefits.

Rolls-Royce’s modular range of winches and anchor windlasses incorporate a range of standard mooring winches, anchor cable lifters, and warping heads to enable cost-efficient delivery of customised systems. They are designed for ease of installation.
