RSC launches new EAL

The new environmentally acceptable lubricant (EAL) is hydrocarbon renewable and is designed to meet the strictest environmental regulations.

Dr Bernie Roell, vice president of research and development at RSC Bio Solutions, said: “It is the best choice for both the planet and the people. It outperforms other EALs on the market, meets specifications and is the new standard for EALs in the marine industry.”

Futerra is Ecolabel-certified and suitable for use across the world. It aims to deliver high performance in both wet and dry environments and hold up in extreme conditions.

With higher durability than pervious EALs, it is miscible with legacy fluids and an easy drop-in replacement for mineral oil based lubricants, this can reduce the disruption of operation schedules and increase system uptime.

Corrosion resistance with thermal and oxidative suability, Futerra aims to keep equipment running longer by eliminating rust. The breakdown of systems due to rust ultimately costs the customer time and money.

RSC’s new lubricant aims to make equipment last three to four times times longer. It also has a 10-year performance warranty which is one of the highest guarantees currently in the industry for stern tube applications.

The development aims to be a platform that has potential to expand, with the development is currently in demand due to new growing global regulations.
