Russia to build Azerbaijan tanker

Azerbaijan Caspian State Shipping Company (ASCSC) placed a newbuilding order with the Russian shipbuilding company ?Krasnoye Sormovo? (part of MNP Group) to build a 13,000 dwt oil tanker for delivery at the end of 2009.

The tanker of 19619 project belonging to the ?river-sea? class, which is fitted with 12 cargo and 1 sludge tanks and is double-hulled. Its length is 150m, width 17.30m, depth 10.5m which is the maximum size in the Caspian Sea without re-equipping port terminals.

The ship is envisaged for transportation of crude oil and oil products and will be able to undertake simultaneous loading of various types of oil products. Currently the shipyard is building a similar tanker for and, to date, five of this type have been completed for ACSSC and are operating in the Caspian Sea.
