Russia to construct shipyard in Arkhangelsk

Optimist LLC (Arkhangelsk) commenced construction of a shipyard complex in Arkhangelsk which is estimated will cost RUR 800 mln ($28 million) according to Neftegasexpert with reference to resources in Arkhangelsk region. The construction will take place over a period of 20 months while payback period is 7 years according to a government representative.

The complex will be constructed at the ship-repair plant (SRZ) Krasnaya Kuznitsa that went bankrupt. ?It is planned to re-equip the existing slipways of SRZ into a shipyard complex under the design that will allow carrying out ship repair and maintenance, auxiliary ships building, steelworks for drilling platforms on a 24-month basis.

Optimist LLC intends to invest its own funds into the project and is interested in co-investors which will speed up construction process. Optimist LLC was founded in 1991. and has an output of . The company is occupied in building and repair of auxiliary fleet, bulk-carriers, 4,000 tons dwt. tankers, manufacturing of large-sized metalworks of overall weight up to 1.5 thousand tons annually.
