Peter Döhle has, in coordination with the associated Hammonia Shipping Company, made an intensive evaluation of the ballast water treatment systems technologies and products available on the market and in the end opted for the CleanBallast plant of RWO. By mid 2013 the plants, with a capacity of 500 m³/h, will be installed on four 4,800 TEU container ships to be built by the Chinese shipbuilder Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Company.

RWO currently has a total of more than 50 orders for CleanBallast plants on its books. Since their market launch the RWO ballast water treatment systems have mainly been put into operation in China, where the composition of the Yangtze River water is one of the greatest challenges of all for such plants.

The company claims that its CleanBallast plants, which currently can treat ballast water of up to 3,750 m³/h, are among the most sought after worldwide – due to an extremely low energy consumption, simple plant conception and being user friendly.
