AutroMaster ISEMS combines a fire detection system with functions dedicated to optimising control in case of an emergency. Its intuitive control and monitoring interface is intended to provide a simple graphical presentation of the location, and events that may occur. A zoom function allows all areas to be monitored in detail.

It offers comprehensive functionality including: decision support system (DSS) with checklists for emergency management and log functions for documentation and review of incidents (useful for training as well as real incidents). The system provides plotting functionality; an icon-based plotting system that allows operators to direct and keep track of emergency teams on the vessel’s GA plan. An event replay capability provides a review of system events for training or investigation purposes, and a simulator for training is included.

Per Norman Oma, section manager, software for Autronica Fire and Security AS and Flagship partner said: “It would not have been possible to make the progress that we did, within the time frame, was it not for the collaboration of experts across Europe within the Flagship ISEMS sub project in which many of these concepts were tested. We are delighted to have been part of a research project that has delivered practical tangible results. These ‘results’ are systems and products that can see in operation on the high seas delivering benefits to the maritime transport industry in the form of enhanced safety”.

Herman de Meester, co-ordinator of Flagship commented: “The shipping industry always works hard to meet and exceed performance standards. The adoption of specific learning in to new products for the advancement of the industry is exactly what EC projects such as these are all about and are to be welcomed and encouraged.”
