Samho wins PCTC quartet

UKOR Car Carriers (EUKOR) placed an order with Korean shipbuilder Hyundai

Heavy Industries (HHI) for four pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs). The vessels will be

built at the Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Shipyard in Mokpo and deliveries are scheduled for the first half of 2008.

This order is an option declared attached at new orders on July last year when the ship owner ordered two PCTCs. These modern, state-of-the-art ships will each have a capacity of 6,500 cars. The 200 metre long Panamax newbuildings will be equipped with a 150 tonne stern ramp and 12, single-stanchion-row, cargo decks with four hoistable decks. They will be fitted with a 14,328kW diesel power plant giving a maximum speed of 20.5 knots.

These four new EUKOR vessels, together with more than 15 others already in the

pipeline for delivery before the end of 2008, will add significant new capacity to the currently 83-vessel-strong EUKOR fleet which is jointly owned by Wilh. Wilhelmsen ASA, Wallenius Lines AB, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors Corporation.
