Samsung and Tsuneishi to cooperate

Samsung HI revealed that it signed a cooperation agreement with Tsuneishi Corporation. This represents the first of such an agreement between a Japanese shipbuilder and a Korean shipbuilders. The cooperation covers design, purchasing, production and workforce training. The agreement also includes mutual exchange of marketing information such as new order trend and market situation. In addition, both companies will support each other because Samsung mainly builds large ship while Tsuneishi handles small and medium sized ships.

Samsung expects that the resulting synergy will lead to improved production and purchasing management at which Japanese shipbuilders are still ahead of Korean yards while Tsuneishi will benefit from advanced design technology and new ship type developments from Samsung.
