Samsung develops new LNG robot

Samsung Heavy Industries has developed a new robot which will automatically bond triplex insulation in LNG carrier. Triplex maintains temperature in LNG cargo tank at the level of -163 degree and prevent gas leakage.

Currently, 40 workers require 22,400 hours for bonding triplex but this will be reduced by more than 30% once the new robot is deployed. The robot system will require only 28 shipyard personnel working 15,680 hours. The new robot is still undergoing tests and the yard plans to implement the new system in September this year.
