Schottel launches more compact, optimised, thruster designs
The thrusters are designed to be more compact, and simpler to install and maintain than previous units. The new clutch drives the hydraulic units as well as disengaging the drive train, and a slipping clutch option is available, mounted on the upper gearbox of the standard clutch. The slipping clutch enables control of propeller speed between near-zero and engine idle speed, intended for use with mechanically-driven DP2 vessels, double-ended ferries and tugs. The brake is intended to block the propeller from turning during service and maintenance work.
Rudderpropeller (SRP) and twin propeller (STP) versions are available, with a variety of reduction ratios. The new thruster generation is ready for integration with Schottel’s S-COM condition monitoring system.
