Schottel launches new Navigator with Dutch partner

The unit, previewed recently in The Motorship, was on display at the Europort exhibition in Rotterdam. The original Navigator was first produced around 60 years ago, and for the new version Schottel and Topec have reached a project agreement for the re-design and production.

The Nav is an adaptation of the Schottel Rudderpropeller (SRP) with an engine and related equipment mounted on a base frame, which accommodates the daily fuel tank. This has a capacity of about 600 litres on the NAV 200, for example. Dr-Ing. Jens-Erk Bartels, Schottel director of sales and marketing, said: “With Topec we found an experienced partner for engineering and manufacturing of the new Nav generation and integrating our Rudderpropeller.”
