Schottel propulsion for Vard module carriers

Importer
A total of 72 Schottel propulsion units will be installed on 18 Vard designed and built module carriers

The 18 vessels will feature SRP 340 rudder propellers as the main propulsion units. The 15 vessels for Topaz will each have two STT 1 CP transverse thrusters (for a total of 30 units) while the slightly wider designs for KMTF will accommodate two SPJ 132 pump jets each (a total of six units). Delivery of equipment is scheduled throughout the year to the end of 2017.

Schottel noted that its experience and service capability for vessels operating in the Caspian Sea was a key factor in the award. The company said that it’s sealing systems and products, as well as its on-site service options, were suited to the challenging environment – with muddy and often shallow waters clogged with fishing nets and lines.
