Separators fit with Triple-E concept

The order, from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) is for eagleclass separators which fit into Maersk’s Triple-E concept, an idea which pulls together economy of scale, energy efficiency and environmental improvement. Maersk’s new VLCCs have a capacity of 18,000 TEU, some 16% over any of Maersk’s other ships, and produce 50% less CO2 emissions per container moved than the industry average on the Asia-Europe trade.

The eagleclass separators have a Unitrolplus sensor system which is automatically able to monitor and control oil regeneration.

This new generation of sensors controls a highly precise volume feed of displacement water for final oil displacement prior to discharge: this gives a further minimisation of oil loss and best possible separation, which leads to less discharge and lower sludge tank load.
