Blohm+Voss Repair has won a seven ship block booking from Yangming Marine Transport Corporation. The contract, which is valued at up to DM10 million ($5.3 million), covers routine drydocking, maintenance and repairs to seven of the Taiwanese owner?s container vessels.

The ships are scheduled to call at the yard one after the other starting in January, with each vessel staying for ten days. Ming Universe arrived in Hamburg on January 11, and will be followed by Gulf Bridge on January 21, Ming Ocean on February 4, and then Ming Longevity, Cosco Atlantic, Ming Comfort and one other, which has yet to be named.

The order ensures that all departments at Blohm+Voss Repair will be working at full capacity until the end of March. The yard is currently handling a number of significant repair contracts, including extensive fire damage repairs to the Greek ferry Superfast III. Some 600 temporary workers are working in the yard in addition to the permanent workforce of 385.
