Ship repair back at Lairds

Importer

Ship repair work has restarted at the former Cammell Laird dry docks in Birkenhead.

Northwestern Shiprepairers and Shipbuilders has been let back into the yard by landlord Reddington Finance as the two companies move towards a settlement of the dispute that has seen the dry docks lie idle since August.

Northwestern was served with notice to quit the yard only days after it acquired the then tenant, A&P Birkenhead. At the time, Reddington said the notice had been served because the property group was not happy with Northwestern as a tenant after an earlier dispute about the late payment of an invoice.
