Ship repairer wins newbuild contracts

Shanghaiguan Shipyard, one of the main ship repairers in China, has this year won an order for a 70,000DWT floating dock from Samsung Heavy Industries, a 2,600TEU container ship from a Singapore interest, four 120,000DWT bulk carriers from a Danish shipowner and a conversion order of two bulk carriers from CSL in Canada. Total value for these newbuildings is $180 million and the shipbuilder is seeking to enhance its market share for newbuilding and offshore markets.
