Short timescale for wind farm ship

The ship was launched at the DSME yard in Korea only seven months after finalising the order, one month ahead of the original time schedule. The main crane and the jack-up legs will be installed over the next few weeks, with sea trials scheduled for July and August 2011.

The €100 million vessel is claimed to be the first of its kind than can transport four multi-megawatt offshore wind turbines and erect them in water depths of more than 40m. It will operate out of Bremerhaven on construction of the Nordsee Ost wind farm, initially transporting two jacket foundations each week. Later it will take over transport and installation of a total of 48 6MW wind turbines.
