Show preview – Biggest repair show yet

Exhibition space at Shiprepair & Conversion `98 has increased by 30 per cent and is full to capacity, according to the organisers.

This year`s event takes place on November 18-19 at London`s Olympia 2, where stands will occupy two complete floors of the exhibition centre for the first time. The show has been moved to the ground and first floor levels, allowing exhibitors to display much larger and heavier equipment than in the past.

The organisers list over 300 companies who will be exhibiting or represented at the show. Some 90 repair yards will be exhibiting from 37 countries, offering repair services on every continent, including China, Africa, South America, South East Asia, the Middle East and eastern Europe, alongside facilities from Europe, the USA and Canada. Visitors will have the chance to meet with personnel from some of the industry`s newest shiprepair yards.

A full range of ancillary services will also be on show. Corrosion control is well represented, as well as any specialist engine repair companies and firms dedicated to turbo-charger work, boiler repairs, shafts, seals and bearings.

The show will be open for an extra hour, until 19.00, on the first day to make it easier for personnel from London`s shipping offices to attend.

Conference Programme

The usual two-day conference runs alongside the exhibition, with sessions devoted to key industry issues, regional developments, case studies, surveying and the impact of shiprepair on the environment.
