Siemens chooses NAPA

NAPA says that a specially-developed version of its NAPA Logbook will seamlessly integrate into the Siship EcoMain platform, guaranteeing maximum transparency of the entire ship operation both onboard and in offices ashore. This marks the first stage of a developing partnership between NAPA and Siemens, following on from collaboration with other high-level partners.

NAPA says that its Logbook application, which provides ‘real time’ awareness of vessel operations to those on shore, will run on Siship EcoMain’s standardised interface which allows data exchange between all onboard electronic systems. This integration into Siship EcoMain will help owners minimise installation costs by allowing the customer to install several applications alongside NAPA Logbook through the flexible data platform.

Siship EcoMain is a common platform into which all operational data from numerous sophisticated installations and systems onboard a ship is gathered and processed in a standard format. Previously, such systems have managed individual processes successfully but Siship EcoMain is said to be the first system to pool data from all modules to help ship operators optimise their use of energy and resources across on-board processes.

NAPA Logbook automates and regularly synchronises data collection, decreasing the man-hours spent on reporting and logging by crews, and reducing inconsistencies in recording. It incorporates reminders, guidelines and on-board checklists to ensure best-practice is maintained. The searchable ship records allow offices to access evidence of current ship conditions, easing compliance with current and forthcoming regulations.
