Simplifying marine onboard maintenance
The SeaStock Management Solution allows Jotun to assume full management of its customers’ onboard maintenance encompassing condition surveys, ordering and logistics, direct communication, business and technical reviews, product optimisation and crew education.
“Onboard maintenance is an essential but specialised area that requires time, understanding and commitment,” said Habibe Escobar Meléndez, drydock & seastock concept manager at Jotun.
High quality
Mr Meléndez said that the SeaStock Management Solution does away with any risk from poor quality application coming from work conducted by crew that may lack sufficient training.
The software has been designed to reduce hassle, free up time and resources and, importantly, improve the condition of the assets.
“The solution gives complete predictability in terms of costs and allows our customers to focus on what they do best, running maritime businesses. It is a simple way to tackle what can be a complex and costly process,” he said.
The new solution has been piloted with a major ship management company in Singapore, which has managed to achieve 15% reduced paint consumption compared to 2016, minimise the number of deliveries and simplify the product assortment.
The solution has also been tried with DS Tankers in Germany which has been using the SeaStock Management Solution with some of its tanker vessels. So far, paint consumption has been reduced by 17% compared to the previous year.
