Space saving cruise tender
Safety equipment supplier Umoe Schat-Harding has launched a compact tender for smaller cruise ships. The CTL1200 cruise tender has a capacity of 100 persons when used as a tender, or 150 when used as a lifeboat. It is 12m long and 4.5m wide. It has the same dimensions as a standard 150 person lifeboat, can be boarded in the stowed position and installed as a package with the company`s UNIC rolling pivot davit system, meets all Panama canal requirements, says Schat-Harding.
The company has also developed a method of testing hook release gear which it says eliminates the need to load the life boats with sand or water bags and recently used the system to complete major overhauls on two Norwegian Cruise Lines vessels during routine dry docking at Lloyd Werft, Bremerhaven.
