Space saving unit
The latest Omnipure marine sewage treatment process module from Exceltec International Corporation, designed to treat black water effluent from 500 people has a footprint of only 762mm (30 ins) wide and 1,626 mm (64 ins) long.
The 15MX process module is skid-mounted and utilised existing shipboard tanks. It has a single high efficiency electrolytic cell, replacing the dual cell arrangement of the existing Omnipure module, while still continuing to meet all US Coast Guard and IMO requirements for the discharge of waste water, the company says.
The cell has an automatic flow reversal feature that minimises seawater deposits on the electrodes, and significantly decreases cell maintenance needs, says Exceltec.
Further space is saved by the use of a vertically mounted macerator pump. It has O-ring sealed suction and discharge connections, a mechanical seal flush, and amore corrosion resistant, stainless steel impeller.
