Spain delivers new support vessel to Vroon

Vroon Offshore Services of The Netherlands (VOS) today took delivery of another newbuilding, field support vessel VOS Prospector. The vessel was built by the Zamakona Shipyard in Spain.

The newbuilding, designed for standby and emergency rescue and response service, will start a medium-term charter with Total in the UK sector of the North Sea later this year. The delivery represents another step in VOS’s aggressive fleet renewal and expansion program. As part of that program the company has ordered or has options to order a total of 11 vessels of the same design from Zamakona Shipyard for delivery from 2008 through 2011. VOS Prospector was preceded in the series by VOS Pathfinder and VOS Pioneer. VOS Seeker and VOS Voyager will be delivered in 2009. The remaining vessels in the series, due for potential delivery in 2010 and 2011, have not been assigned names.

The vessels, being built to the IMT 955L design by IMT Marine Consultants, are 60 metres long with a beam of 12.7 metres, and can make 12.2 knots. Propulsion is diesel-electric.
