Stadt gains four-ship AHTS order from Asian yard
“During the last years we have been established as a leading company for electric ship propulsion system within emerging shipbuilding markets and we expect further growth,” said Stadt director Hallvard Slettevoll.
Mr Slettevoll says that the company’s order volume is increasing, and the Stadt Staschco no-loss drive technology seems to be gaining with major shipping companies, a fact that was borne out by the interest in the company’s presence at the 2012 Motorship Propulsion and Emissions conference in Hamburg.
The Stadt technology aims to provide efficient and reliable solutions with positive impacts on fuel savings and emissions reductions. It is claimed to offer flexibility in fuel choice, suitable for diesel or LNG propulsion, as well as fuel cells and battery-based hybrid systems. Stadt says that it is future proofed, as it can be simply adapted to any new energy sources used in the future.
“The Stadt system will adapt to any operation profiles of the ship and secure optimal performance at all conditions, like slow steaming,” said Mr Slettevoll. “Our No-loss drive solution is most likely the most efficient propulsion system on the market today, and is now installed, or ordered, for a total of 19 ships worldwide.”
